Step in the right direction for Rincoe?
Firstly I must say thank you to Rincoe for providing me with the Mechman 228W kit 🙂 I also have the Mechman 80W to review which will follow in the next couple of weeks.
Rincoe have been around a couple of years as a mainstream company and have put out some excellent kits. It’s the first time I have reviewed Rincoe and hopefully not my last!
Opening the box
I received my Mechman kit and opened the box and thought that is good looking. Bit miffed I got a USA flag though 😉 My first impressions were it felt a solid mod, felt well made and was surprisingly small. I had assumed it would be a massive mod but it’s no bigger than a Drag.
The magnets on the door are strong too. I think that is worth pointing out as some kits have quite weak magnets but this battery door slams shut!
I put the batteries in and it starts up. Crisp & clean display too. Had a fiddle with the settings but didn’t change anything, seemed easy enough to follow but please read the instruction manual.
Let’s get technical
Mechman 228W TC mod:
- Dimensions: 53.8 mm x 29.2 mm x 90 mm
- Power range: 1 – 228 watts
- TC modes support: Ni200/Ti/SS
- Power mode (VW/Bypass): 0.08-5.0 ohm (0.3-ohm recommended)
- TC mode (nickel/titanium/stainless steel/TCR): 0.05 – 3.5 ohm (0.15-ohm recommended)
- Batteries: dual replaceable high-rate 18650 cells (CDC≥25A) (Not Included)
Customizing your Mechman
The Mechman has interchangeable doors, This includes the sticker and skeleton, making it possible to create a kit just for you (you know what i mean!). Hopefully, Rincoe will be making it possible to buy the doors separately further down the line. I always like customization of mods. My favourite mod of all time is the Hotcig R150 and i loved the interchangeable doors so this sort of thing appeals to me.
Protections on the Mechman are:
Low voltage protection
Reverse battery protection
Overload/short circuit protection
10 second cut off
The Mechman Mesh tank
- Dimensions: 28 mm x 36 mm
- Tank capacity: 4.5 mL (max）
- Resistance: single mesh coil: 0.25 ohm
- Dual mesh coil: 0.2 ohm
- 810 drip tip
- Material: Resin drip tip & stainless steel & quartz bubble glass
The tank has been made with flavour in mind it seems. Taking on the mesh market which is booming right now. The tank has only 2 types of coil, the single coil and dual coil. Easy to fill & can hold 4.5ml of eliquid once the bubble glass is fitted.
What you get in the box
- Mechman 228W mod
- Mechman mesh tank
- Single mesh coil 0.25 ohm
- Dual mesh coil 0.2 ohm
- An extra bubble glass tube
- Certificate card
- User manual
- USB charging cable
- Warning card
Is this one for the collection?
I like the design, i got the USA/Wings version in black. The sticker looks good, as does the all black side, not sure how it’ll stand up to countless overfilling when using an RDA, it may peel. The case and I’ll call it a skeleton is a lovely matt black and feel strong. Whether the skeleton offers any sort of protection is i think doubtful.
The only issue i think with the design is the button. It’s the same problem i had with the Legend, it’s the clicky button. I don’t know why but i really don’t like them. that is a personal preference though and not a design fault.
The menu and screen are clear and simple to understand. The menus are easy to get the hang of.
It has a fair amount of weight to it once the batteries are in. I would say as heavy as the Drag 1.
The 510 can accommodate a 25mm tank, flush. So it does limit the tanks/RDAs in size. Lately, we are seeing some hefty topped mods which are taking huge tanks but this is a perfect daily carry.
The Mechman takes 2x 18650 batteries. I personally used 2x Samsung 30Q’s from 18650.uk (use code UKVD for 15% off). Please make sure your batteries are in good condition before using them.
I was using the mod at 60w with the tank and 90-110w on my RDA. Battery life was fantastic. Was getting 6 hours with the RDA and roughly 8 with the tank. My batteries are reasonably new too. The drop off was very gradual and still very useable even when batteries were nearly out.
Overall i feel battery life was pretty good and didn’t rinse the batteries. Very pleased with that.
How does it vape?
Very impressive when it comes to firing. You get a full whack of power instantly. Some mods you find it takes a second to get up to full power, know what I mean, I hope!
It feels great in the hand. You think it would perhaps be a bit lumpy but it’s not at all. Lovely size too.
I wouldn’t want to drop this like you would an Aegis. It is a solid mod but it’s not unbreakable.
I’m generally not a fan of centred 510 pins but because of the size, it doesn’t bother me too much. It isn’t going to fit much more than a 24-25mm tank on so it definitely isn’t bulky.
The Mechman fires down to .08 which is a bonus for me as i often do low builds to get the hit I crave.
I really like the look of the mod and performance wise it is outstanding.
I am not a tank user. I just feel most fall short of the mark. So reviewing tanks isn’t really my best assessment of a product. I just feel I should put that out there.
The tank as it comes is 2ml but with bubble glass, you can extend to 4.5ml which for most is enough. There are only 2 coil options for this tank. A single coil and a dual coil. The coils are mesh which is, on the whole, a huge improvement on stock coil tanks across all brands. The single mesh coils come in at 0.25 and dual at 0.2, so not low on the ohms. I fired them at 60W thereabouts and it seemed to be the sweet spot for me but might be different for you.
It’s not going to light up your life this tank but it is good. Plenty of cloud for those who like to cloudchase. Flavour is reasonable but there is room for improvement. Coil life seems ok and no immediate burnouts but it might be a possibility you would kill them but would only be from not priming correctly, too many juices through the same coil or overly sweet juice.
For a tank as part of a kit and not standalone it is fine but it just sits in the middle for me, it does the job!
I really rate the mod, in fact, I love it! It has all you could want from a mod but don’t be fooled by its rugged exterior! It won’t take the battering. Solidly built, however, finish and design is great. I love the fact you can customize it if you want to and i hope to see the panels for sale separately in the future. Battery life is amazing and it fires like a beauty!
Only let down for me is the average tank and the clicky button.
Other than that it is a fantastic kit and definitely worth a buy!

I can’t find any UK sites doing the full kit at the moment 🙁

- Battery life
- Fast firing
- Clicky button
- Think people expect a rough & tumble mod and i personally don't think it would take a beating
- Tank could be better
